Every skill you actually own is one fewer thing you have to buy, borrow or wait for.
The argument
Dependency is expensive in a way that rarely shows up on an invoice: you wait, you explain, you accept someone else's pace, and you lose the ability to change your own system.
Learning is the cheapest way out of that. Not learning as consumption — courses collected, notes never used — but learning that ends in something built and running.
This is why I build in public. Building is the part where learning becomes knowledge you can rely on.
What I observe
People who learn by building stop needing permission much earlier than people who learn by reading.
